Work Experience opportunities for 2019

Work placements are designed to give an insight into the running of a busy theatre and arts centre and are a good way of finding out about working in the arts.

We offer a broad overview of the whole venue rather than a placement in a specific department; this means that there is an opportunity to work in programming, box office, marketing, front of house and technical.  The work will vary depending on the events we have taking place during the placement.

Review from a young person in 2018

During work experience at The Brewhouse I learned a lot about what it’s like to run a small theatre. On each day I worked with a different person or department to get a little insight into what they do, and what their job includes. I did everything from attending social media management training, to hanging art exhibitions to learning how to work the lighting and sound desks. I found it fun and interesting to get involved, and one of my favourite activities was organising the costumes and seeing which ones could be used for the next Christmas show. I would definitely recommend doing work experience at The Brewhouse as there is such a wide range of different jobs that would interest most people, especially if you’re interested in working in a theatre when your older. One of the things that surprised me is the amount of hands-on activities I was able to do and having a good balance of hands-on activities with work on the computer. I also loved the friendly people and atmosphere, which was really welcoming and made me feel instantly confident to be myself.
