The Brewhouse Theatre youth advisory group meet monthly on Thursday’s from 6pm – 7pm. It’s a new group set up to make suggestions for future programming, promote new youth activities and to watch and review shows together. It’s your chance to become more involved in the running and behind the scenes action in the programming office at the theatre.

Adventure to the planet Tinpot, make your own tin can robot friend. Using magnets, junk metal and recycled materials. With handles for ears, nails for eyebrows and pipecleaners for hair we can have lots of fun creating our own characters and stories.

Do you love fabrics and textiles? Are you a regular felter, quilter, stitcher, knitter or designer? We are considering starting a new club on Wednesday evenings, a social session for textile crafters and artists. Come along to share your projects, work on designs and meet like minded people. The session will be coordinated by Jill Denton a Taunton textile artist who will have plenty of tips to give and suggestions to make.

Learn how to needle felt in wool. We will be working in 3D to produce a woollen bear or hare sculpture. Suitable for complete beginners or those hoping to boost their skills in needle felt.
Materials are included in the price along with tea or coffee throughout the workshop.

Take part in an inspiring workshop designed to give an exciting insight into the world of a professional dancer. Taught by and with artists of the Vienna Festival Ballet, you will get the opportunity to see life back stage as well as costumes from the productions. At the end of each workshop there will be an opportunity to participate in “question and answer” sessions with the dancers.

A fun workshop with the show’s author and songwriter David Parkin. David has been running arts workshops since 1997 and is a bit of a comedian so knows how to how to have a good time whilst making arty stuff.

In this workshop with photographer Sam White we’ll learn about the varied history of the camera obscura, seeing how it was put to use by both artists and scientists. We’ll recreate a technique thought to have been used by Vermeer to create his masterpieces – using the camera obscura to project images that can be traced by hand onto canvas.

A talk on the varied history of the camera obscura, covering how artists and scientists have put this device to use throughout time. We’ll see examples of how it was used for everything from creating masterpieces and making discoveries to helping shoot down planes and helping control through fear.

Meet photographer Sam White and step inside his camera obscura where you can learn about the workings of light and optics. See the world upside-down and back to front, before working together to create a unique portrait. A fun, family activity for the Easter holidays.
