Taunton Theatre Association operating The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre, Taunton

Be part of our success

Over the last 3 years we have rapidly established a bright, new offer for performing and visual arts in Taunton.   Led by Vanessa Lefrancois, an innovative and energetic young team are building a reputation for high quality programming of music, dance, drama, comedy, family shows and more. Cinema, introduced with crowd-funding support, offers live transmissions and quality films.  Engagement activities for all – toddlers to seniors – and a continuously changing programme of exhibitions keeps everyone involved.

Our volunteers, who work in all areas of the operation, are critical to our success.  Many who helped paint the walls at the outset are still with us filling different roles.

Underpinned by a grant from TDBC, with early support from The Mackintosh Foundation, successive grants from Arts Council England and other regional trusts and foundations together with support from businesses, we have built a sound base.  Now, we are implementing a strategic plan to grow, extend our reach and become recognised as an outstanding artistic venue and creative hub for arts in the West as well as our community.

Help drive us forward

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates to join our Board of Trustees who, as well as demonstrating a passion for the arts, offer experience in one or more of the following fields.   Individuals with diverse backgrounds are especially welcome.

  • Education
  • Performing and/or visual arts
  • Fundraising
  • Audience development
  • Legal skills
  • Entrepreneurialism and business development
  • Charity or business management

We meet in the evening and with associated projects/committees you should think about a time commitment of 6-8 meetings a year.
