Development Officer

The Brewhouse Theatre and Arts Centre in Taunton has grown rapidly since its successful reopening by Taunton Theatre Association in 2014.  Having successfully attracted support from ACE, Trusts and Foundations, local businesses and individuals, there is now an exciting opportunity for a Development Officer to join the team and build this area of work.  Passionate about the arts, and experienced in raising funds in this field, the post-holder will be tasked with developing all elements of our fundraising operation to meet targets of c£100K pa.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Development Officer’s responsibilities will include orchestrating an appeal built around the 40th Anniversary of the building of the theatre, further building our relationship with Arts Council England, along with researching and bidding to Trusts and Foundations, building our network of potential sponsors and partners, increasing our donor base, and devising and executing specific fundraising campaigns.

The role will require a flexible working approach with some possible evening and weekend work. All employees are encouraged to donate time beyond their contract as this helps build rapport and good team spirit with colleagues, audiences and the volunteers on whom the organisation depends.

The Brewhouse is a multipurpose venue in the centre of Taunton where we offer high quality live performances, cinema, exhibitions and participatory activities, in addition to providing a platform for local community theatre companies and schools productions.  The organisation is young and ambitious, the environment exciting and fast-paced with a small core team of employees whilst volunteers support all areas of the work.
