If you have a passion for sound, rhythm & film – this is the class for you!

A compositional masterclass for young aspiring musicians with or without experience playing an instrument/singing/producing sound.

Working with composer James Brookes you will create your own soundscapes and music for an atmospheric film sound track. This community film has been created by young people & Young Somerset and will capture a world of new hope, an ideal world we all would like to live in.

Make sounds using objects that you can find at home, hand clapping and voice as well as digital sound creation and instruments – if you have one. But don’t forget, no experience is necessary and you don’t need your own instrument to get involved.

This workshop is suitable for 11 to 18 year olds interested in developing their musicality and composition skills, and provides an excellent opportunity to get familiar with some basic skills in digital music creation.

Once you’ve finished working your magic, the film (and accompanying soundtrack) will be live streamed at the end of the day. This will also provide an opportunity to hear from our morning workshop, TELL YOUR STORY who you will be collaborating with for the live stream at 6PM. Live stream details/link to follow.

Youth Masterclasses have tiered pricing to accommodate your means, Option 4 (£25) is the standard price for the class and every penny that we take will go toward supporting our artists and facilitators (as well as covering some boring ‘operational costs’ – yawn). But please choose a tier that you are comfortable with. The most important thing is making sure that you enjoy the class!

JAMES BROOKES
James is a Music Project Leader for Young Somerset and manages the Rural Music Network Project. He is a composer, singer-song-writer and Performance Artist.
