Ever wanted to write or perform poetry?
This is a unique, welcoming workshop where you can explore your curiosity in Performance Poetry, make new friends, collaborate, devise new pieces and jam together. Open to all levels, this is a facilitated session to write, edit and polish poetry, and then bring it to life for an audience – all you need is an openness to try new things!
Acclaimed facilitator Daniel Balla will guide you to establish rhyming patterns, and to draw metaphors from daily life. Using a selection of individual and collaborative techniques, participants will hone skills and processes for engaging performances, gaining confidence and exploring ways of using their voice from page to stage in a nurturing environment.
Whether you are new to poetry and performance or feel confident in your writing and stagecraft, this is a space where you will be able to immerse yourself in the world of Spoken Word, where your natural voice is primary, and where passionate vocal expression speaks truth to power. You will then have the opportunity to perform what you have worked on at the Showcase on the 20th!
This workshop is in partnership with Somerset Libraries, so please note the first part of this workshop takes place at Taunton Library 10am -1pm and from 2pm -5pm at The Brewhouse.
(Taunton Library, Paul St, Taunton TA1 3XZ)
Please arrive at the venue 15 minutes prior to start time.
Through taking part in this workshop, you will have the opportunity to share what you create in the Word Play Showcase at 5.30pm.
We’re excited to say there are some places held for workshop attendees to come to the professional story slam Women Who Gave Not Hoot Nor Toot on 20th Feb. We will email you directly once your workshop place is booked.
