WHAT THE PRESS SAY
“Riley never once loses control. He sticks to the script. And the result is a triumph.”
Kevin Maher, The Times
“While Sorry to Bother You is off-the-wall and hilariously bizarre, its message is firmly grounded in the recognisable injustice of a system whose decadence is seeing it teetering on the edge of collapse.”
Simon Childs, New Statesman
DID YOU KNOW…?
At one point, Detroit wears a pair of earrings with the phrases BURY THE RAG and DEEP IN YOUR FACE. These are lyrics from “The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll” by Bob Dylan, which is a protest song about a poor African-American woman murdered by a wealthy white man. (“Bury the rag deep in your face/ Now’s the time for your tears”.)
