Somerset People’s Theatre Taunton is an open access Theatre company for anyone aged 18+ in Taunton and the surrounding areas. We believe everyone is a theatre maker in their own right & everyone has the ability to do so – whether experienced or not.

Through weekly classes with Theatre makers in the county, members will have the chance to develop skills & understanding in making original Theatre. Join us in classes with professional Directors, Writers, Designers, Producers & Performers. Together, Somerset People’s Theatre will work towards creating an original piece of Theatre, made by the Company, in response to Wassail Theatre’s Apple’s & Angels.

This term, Somerset People’s Theatre will be facilitated by Selina Keedwell – a Theatre Maker and Performer, with a specific interest in creating and exploring Theatre that comes from the heart of those at play. Selina trained in Physical Theatre & Dance, and completed her PGCE in English & Drama at University of Exeter. She has facilitated for, amongst others, Wassail Theatre, Theatre Orchard, Westcountry Theatre, TakeArt, Stagedoor Manor NY, Vibe Indonesia.

Taking inspiration from Wassail’s professional show – Apples & Angels, the Somerset People’s Theatre will make work that puts the audience in the middle of the experience. We talk a lot about making plays that are authentic and entertaining, and take inspiration for ideas from amazing stories that come from the people of Somerset.
