This mini taster session will introduce you to the techniques needed to make a piece of jewellery using traditional silversmithing skills with trained jeweler Melanie Bowler.

Melanie will guide you through different methods & designs, and how to apply them to silversmithing projects.

If you enjoy this taster you might come back and try her half day workshop in March where you will create either a ring, earrings or a pendant. You’ll be amazed and delighted with what you can create in a half day session.

About Melanie Bowler:
Melanie studied at Berkshire College of Art and Design where she gained a BTEC diploma; she then continued her studies at Plymouth College of Art and Design, gaining an HND in Design Metals. Both courses gave her a deep grounding in fundamental jewellery and silversmithing skills.

Melanie has won the Royal Society of British Sculptors medal design competition and the Michael Spiers Jewellery award (Southwest Academy summer exhibition).
She set up her own business in 1996 and has been making and designing jewellery ever since.

This event takes place in our Creative Hub. Please note, there are limited spaces for this taster session.
