All unemployed, Ki-taek and his family take peculiar interest in the wealthy and glamorous Parks, as they ingratiate themselves into their lives and get entangled in an unexpected incident.

The Park family is the picture of aspirational wealth, while the Kim family is one that is rich in street smarts but little else. Through chance – or perhaps fate – the two are brought together and the Kims sense a golden opportunity.

In a plan masterminded by college-aged Ki-woo, the Kim children install themselves as employees of the Parks and before long the two families develop a symbiotic dynamic wherein the Kims provide luxury services, and the Parks – unknowingly – bankroll their entire household. When a parasitic interloper threatens the Kims’ newfound comfort, however, a savage, underhanded battle for dominance breaks out, threatening to destroy the fragile ecosystem between the Kims and the Parks.

Winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

*film is in Korean with English subtitles.

“Bong Joon-ho already has an impeccable track record, but he’s stepped up his game with this brilliant, powerfully revealing social satire.” – Jeffrey M. Anderson, Common Sense Media

“Sharp as a knife, and just as deadly….it’s been hyped to death since Cannes, but with good reason.” ***** Little White Lies.
