Dance that connects us.
National Dance Company Wales are presenting a triple bill of performances here at The Brewhouse, showcasing a wide range of choreographing talents.
NDCWales perform poetry, sport and politics across three powerful pieces of dance.
‘Rygbi: Yma / Here’ is uplifting: full of hope, glory and camaraderie. It celebrates the pride and passion that rugby players and fans experience together, inspired by the great game.
Second is ‘Lunatic’, a theatrical and surreal piece by internationally-renowned performer and choreographer Nigel Charnock. Created for NDCWales in 2009, ‘Lunatic’ was described by The Guardian as “a mix of cabaret, dance, and theatre, an edgy performance style that gleefully tramples dancerly decorum,” mixing the music of the 30s with 90s pop culture.
Also on the bill is ‘2067: Time and Time and Time’, a new commission by award-winning German-based choreographer, Alexandra Waierstall, whose work has been performed across Europe, Canada, China, Korea, and Brazil. The piece is a shimmering poem about the relationship between the history of time and the poetry of destiny.
There will also be a post-show discussion. Want a behind-the-scenes look into the life of NDC Wales’ dancers? See our Watch Dance Class event page.
