When a young romance is thwarted by the powers that be, life and death prove to be the mysterious ultimate executors of fate.
The Holland Handkerchief, a show that combines storytelling, movement and live original music, is based on the folk ballad of the same name. It tells the story of a wealthy squire’s daughter who is forbidden from marrying her lover, and of the terrible consequences of his actions.
Somerset’s own Kerchief Theatre Company and alt-folk sister duo Currer Bell have combined hauntingly beautiful music and stagecraft to tell this curious tale of love, loyalty, and honour.
The Holland Handkerchief is an outdoor event and will take place on Somerset Square.
