A semi-abstract painting and drawing workshop with artist Sara Dudman RWA.
Rooted in seascape traditions, this workshop encourages participants to unlock their potential to create expressive painterly responses to the beautiful British coastline.
This acrylic painting workshop will focus on developing mark-making and gesture to create paintings full of energy and expression. We will focus on ‘evoking’ rather than ‘describing’ subject-matter, working specifically from coastal imagery. A looseness of style, vitality and gestural marks are the hallmarks of Sara’s paintings.
During the day, Sara will guide you through tried and tested ideas and techniques for creating expressive paintings, evoking the experience of being by the beautiful British coast. Core principles of composition, colour, tone and form will be explored, providing participants with the foundations to achieve the level of abstraction / representation they are looking for in their artwork.
During the day participants will use a range of paint application tools on both canvas and textured surfaces. They will be encouraged to work freely with experimentation and expression.
