Spend a day exploring your writing and inner author and be inspired by published author Rebecca Alexander.
People find the empty page difficult, so this workshop starts at the very beginning with writing a first draft (using techniques such as word compost, lists, rambles and shapes). Then we look at how we edit and judge ourselves and develop techniques to adapt and amend with freewrites, word sketches and work-shopping skills. Find the ‘good stuff’ rather than criticising what doesn’t work.
The afternoon session concentrates on using memory to write a memoir piece from an alternative perspective.
The workshop will finish with a short talk about publishing, competitions and collaborative projects and how everyone can develop and improve their writing until they publish.
Please bring along your preferred writing medium – paper and pens/pencils, a laptop or tablet.
