Macbeth
The Brewhouse Young Theatre Company present
Macbeth
Wed 13th August 2008 - Sun 17th August 2008
Amateur Shows at The Brewhouse
By William Shakespeare
Shakespeare’s bloody and tragic tale of murder, ambition and greed is played out in a fast paced and exciting promenade production at The Brewhouse Theatre & Arts Centre. *
This eerie and bloodthirsty retelling of Macbeth will take you on a journey through different unseen parts of the theatre, and into areas that the public don’t usually get to see.
Set in a time of glamour, war and dictatorship, Macbeth is inspired by the haunting events of the 1930s and 40s, and looks at issues surrounding control, propaganda, greed and the rise and fall of a dictator, manipulated into power by his image-conscious wife and three elegant, yet evil women. Expect a gory and haunting production, where the building rhythm of a live band drives the action to its horrific conclusion.
The set and costumes are all designed by local professional designer Sophie Mosberger, finalist of the prestigious Linbury Prize for Stage Design (2007), and winner of a bursary with The Royal Opera House.
Building on the critical success of last year’s Singin’ In The Rain, the cream of young local talent comes together with a professional creative team to present the Bard’s classic Scottish play.
