Splintered Light Theatre Company Presents
Looking For Miko
A Play for Bulgaria’s abandoned children by David Olley

Thursday 11 – Saturday 13 February

Inspired by a recent visit to one of the many orphanages in Bulgaria, this moving piece of physical theatre explores the heart-wrenching stories of Europe’s forgotten children through innovative use of movement, text and sound.

Bulgaria has the highest number of physically and mentally disabled children in Europe. Due to poor living conditions and a lack of medical equipment, many orphans become mentally ill; developing what is known as “Attachment Disorder”.

Writer and performer David Olley tells the story of 23 year old orphan Miko, giving an insight into his daily life and earliest childhood memories. Finding Miko also portrays the struggle of the orphanage’s care workers through their inability to cope due to poor pay and working conditions.

Fifty percent of ticket sales will be donated to Cedar Foundation Bulgaria.
