Worlds Unknown - May
May: The Noise Eating Monsters
Wednesday 16 May 2012
8pm
A journey into that unknown region where folk music, free jazz and noise meet with this wild saxophone and drums duo.
Steve Noble is an awesome drummer, playing in an extraordinary range of contexts from his early playing in the Rip, Rig and Panic, through playing with the greats of free jazz and improvisation to his work with doom metal group, Æthenor. With bassist John Edwards he is in three of the finest free jazz trios: NEW with guitarist Alex Ward, Decoy with Hammond organist Alex Hawkins and the Wilkinson/Edwards/Noble trio.
"An engaging mix of jazz time, thunderous free- rock and abstract improv, Noble is one of the country's most creative drummers"
JOHN FORDHAM THE GUARDIAN
“highly inventive… a really great improvising percussionist, who blends subtlety, resourcefulness and power”
