Classic Cut presents Configurations, a work celebrated and enthusiastically reviewed for its use of speed and stunning detail. In revisiting this 1989 collaboration with iconic composer Michael Nyman, Jeyasingh provides us with a unique glimpse into a pioneering work from the very beginning of her company’s life and an insight into an inspirational collaboration between choreographer and composer.
Alongside this Jeyasingh will present an atmospheric new work (as yet untitled) that will draw on the dramatic and colourful theatrical genre of classic Indian dance. It will feature newly commissioned music from young Indian composer and sound artist Niraj Chag whose credits include Rafta Rafta for the National Theatre and the BAFTA-nominated Simon Schama’s Power Of Art series for BBC2.
A co-production with ROH2 and co-commissioned by The Royal Opera House and The Point Eastleigh.
