Activities to try at home!
These activities will change every other month. But don't worry if you've missed one as they can all be found in the archive.
Create your own characters with these masks and puppets!
Learn how to make your own wildlife mask and puppet that you can use in your play at home.
What you will need to make your mask is:
1 x A4 piece of coloured card - remember the colour of the card should be the same as the animal you are making. (Use thin card so that you can put it through your printer).1 x sheet of tissue paper (this paper may be for ears, noses and beaks so chose wisely).Colouring pencils, scissors, string or elastic long enough to go around your head.
How to make your mask:
Print the main template of your chosen mask onto your card and carefully cut it out.
Glue your tissue paper onto the smaller templates and carefully cut them out.
Glue along the edges of the smaller templates and stick them in the appropriate places of your mask.
With your colouring pencils add detail and draw around the outside of your mask's features.
Measure your string or elastic by putting it around your head.
The ends of your string or elastic through the holes you've made on either side of your mask and tie the ends.
Your mask is ready to wear!

What you will need to make your puppet:
2 x A4 sized sheets of material - felt is usually best.Thread, a sewing needle, pins, x2 Small buttons. Sequins, feathers, ribbons and glitter (these are optional)
How to make your puppet:
Print out the template and carefully cut around it.
Very carefully, with help from an adult, pin your two sheets of material together.
Again, very carefully with help from an adult, pin the template to both sheets of material
Next carefully cut around the template, cutting both sheets of material at the same time.
Take the paper template off the material leaving you with two material templates.
Now, with help from an adult, carefully sew around the edges of the material, remembering not to sew across the bottom, or you will not be able to get your hand in!
Take the pins out and turn your puppet inside out.
Carefully sew the two buttons onto the head of your puppet for your puppets eyes.
If you have sequins, feathers, ribbons or glitter to decorate, now is the time to use them wherever you feel they are needed – maybe for a tail, or some hair or maybe you want to give your puppet a bit of colour – it's up to you!
Your puppet is ready to perform!
The Brewhouse has a supporting promise to help families feel comfortable in our venue and to encourage engagement in the arts.
