| Just the best live event I've ever been to - yes that's EVER been to! And I've been to a few. Really absolutely outstanding. Electrifying from my position in the second row, and I was genuinely on the verge of tears at some of the more exalted passages. It really was that good.
Courtney Pine's band, as you might expect, were red hot and had it down very tight, flowing effortlessly along with the narrative, directed and headed by Pine.
His command of the saxaphone (and electronic wind instrument) was quite breathtaking close up. And supported by some great musicians on keyboard, guitar, electronic stand up bass, drums and electric violin - the superlatives just don't cover it.
I came out afterwards having fully engaged with the whole performance, and breathless.
I understand that, for the Brewhouse, a guy like Pine is a coup. But he certainly showed why. Really exceptional. Can he come back please?
