Sheep From Lamb to Loom

Sheep From Lamb to Loom
Saturday 14 March 2009 - Saturday 25 April 2009
This unique exhibition of images and sound is the culmination of three years’ fieldwork in Somerset and Devon, documenting the seasonal work of shepherds, shearers, market auctioneers, wool graders, weavers, tanners and other artisans. The result is a historic collection of expressive charcoal drawings and evocative paintings by Kate Lynch, and a complementary collage of atmospheric sounds and voices by Alastair Goolden.
The exhibition takes us on a rare journey behind the scenes, from the raddling of the rams and the lambing of the ewes through to the weaver’s loom. A full-colour book illustrated with the artwork and containing extracts from the artist’s journal and interviews with the people featured will be available. The Brewhouse Gallery is delighted to host this unusual marriage of images and sound before it goes on tour.
