Since finishing her MA at UWE, Bristol in 2006 Fiona Hingston’s work has focused on reflecting on the nature of walking. Her work explores ideas around landscape and the experience of passing through time and space. She works on a surface that provides a physical resonance to the ground.
‘The time spent drawing and scratching into the earth covered paper becomes an intimate engagement with the surface’, she says, ‘A way of retreating into a space that replicates the experience of walking through a landscape where a sense of belonging and knowing is felt’.
These large scale drawings include recent and new works made especially for The Brewhouse Gallery space.
